Travel Advice

Travel Tips

Prior to any journey with a baby or toddler it is best to be prepared. Below are a list of tips and ideas to help make your journey a little easier. It is by no means a guaranteed list and there is space at the end to add your own personal reminders.

  1. Ask your travel agent for recommended holiday destinations suitable for the age of your children.
  2. Always check with your airline/ travel agent about visa requirements and travel restrictions for the country you are planning to visit.
  3. Always use the restraining cover on any baby cot / seat belts provided when your baby is sleeping. This prevents injury if the plane suddenly hits turbulence. Your baby would be restrained from flying out of the cot!
  4. Take water, snacks and favourite foods for any journey
  5. Hire baby furniture, such as a pram, stroller, cot and high chair rather than lug your own.
  6. Use disposable rather than cloth nappies.
  7. Always drink bottled water when possible. Take care when eating salads and fruit.
  8. Use any babysitting facilities at your hotel from time to time so you can have a break.
  9. Always familiarize yourself with all emergency facilities and emergency exits on planes and when you arrive at your accommodation.

Always hand carry enough medicines to last the length of your vacation plus a few days extra.

General Safety

  1. See your doctor about vaccinations beforehand. At least 6-8 weeks prior to travelling.
  2. Pack sunscreen, hats and insect repellent.
  3. Be particularly vigilant about the potential dangers of unfamiliar places, such as unfenced swimming pools or balconies.
  4. Take all sterilizing equipment with you if your child is bottle-fed.
  5. Avoid animals such as dogs, cats and monkey to reduce the risk of bites.
